The radar level meter is based on the Time of Flight (ToF) principle. It emits high-frequency electromagnetic waves toward the water surface and calculates the water level by measuring the time difference between the transmitted and reflected signals. The water level data is then output via RS485 communication.
The radar water level sensor emits radar pulses through its antenna, which also receives the pulses reflected from the water surface and records the time. By measuring the time difference between the transmission and reception of the electromagnetic wave, the radar level meter calculates the distance to the water surface. The actual water level is then derived based on the sensor’s installation height, as shown in the diagram below:
