The integrated electromagnetic flow velocity sensor combines an electromagnetic flowmeter and a radar level meter into a single unit. It can be directly installed inside drainage pipes to measure instantaneous flow velocity, instantaneous flow rate, cumulative flow, water level, and other parameters of stormwater and sewage in real time. The product allows setting flow velocity models tailored to different site conditions, enabling accurate calculation of flow velocity and volume within the pipes. Additionally, it features an IP68 protection rating, resistance to salt spray corrosion, and flood immersion durability, making it suitable for various harsh operating environments.
The flow velocity is measured using the reflection characteristics of radar signals. The instrument emits pulsed radio waves and receives signals reflected by particles within the fluid, such as bubbles and suspended solids. According to the Doppler effect, when particles move in the same direction as the fluid flow, the frequency of the reflected signal increases; when particles move in the opposite direction, the frequency decreases. By measuring these frequency shifts, the radar flow velocity meter calculates the fluid’s velocity.
